The spines are flexible so that when your hoop hits the ground the spine will bend to absorb the force of impact, then go back to its original position. We find that having flexible spines will pro-long the life of your collapsible fire hoop. The spines are easily unscrewed out of the hoop by hand, this allows for easy transportation and the ability to use your fire hoops as a practice hoop, therefore maximizing your purchasing dollar.
