K1 wick is a mix of aramid materials (e.g., KEVLAR (R) and NOMEX (R)) and fiberglass and is the most popular wick in the firedancing community today; if you are uncertain what type of wick you are using, it is probably this blend, regardless of where you obtained it. It is distinguished by it's yellow-orange color.

K2 fire wick is a blend of aramid material (e.g., KEVLAR (R)) and fiberglass that is generally more reasonably-priced, resulting in more fire wick volume per dollar. This fire wick frays more with handling, but is slightly more resistant to heat-damage from metal hardware (bolts, washers, nuts, etc.) than K1 fire wick.

This adhesive-backed wick measures 1.5 in. x 1/16. in This adhesive wick readily sticks to most standard surfaces: metal, wood, etc. This makes them ideal for wrapping on staves, batons, torches of all kinds, tube cores, and so on. It is recommended that only pure white gas be used with this wick for a long lasting stick.

Kevlar wick is used for a variety of different things, but I am sure you are hear to either build yourself a new fire prop or re-wick your old fire tools. Just make sure to secure your wicking properly and always burn with a safety person.
